12-Night/ 13-Day Surf 'n' Safari

A 12 night/13-day group African Journey combining an island adventure in Zanzibar with the best of the Tanzanian northern wildlife ecosystems This safari is designed for active people of any age who are interested in a unique group safari experience. The emphasis is on being close to the land, close to the people and close to the culture, as this is what a true African safari is all about. The safari will involve accommodations in first-class lodges as well as classic African camping in a beautiful, wild and pristine location on the Serengeti. Our safaris are comfortable, and at times luxurious, but are primarily planned to emphasize the quality and depth of the experience.

Day 1       Arrive Zanzibar. Lunch and nights lodging at Imani Beach Villa or Salome’s Garden.

Day 2       Day relaxing on beach or spice plantation tour. Lodging at Imani Beach Villa.

Day 3      Boat trip to nearby islands or snorkeling on north end of island. Lodging at Imani Beach Villa.

Day 4      Explore Jozani Forest Reserve, or dolphin trip. Farewell Zanzibari feast.

Day 5      Morning relaxing or touring/shopping in Stone Town. Afternoon flight to Serengeti National Park. Classic camp in Seronera, the heart of Serengeti.

Day 6      Game drives and exploring in Serengeti. Return to classic camp for the night.

Day 7      Game drives and further exploration. Return to classic camp for the night.

Day 8      Depart Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater. Stop en route at Olduvai Gorge. Lodging at Serena Luxury Lodge.

Day 9      Game drive and exploration of the Crater. Back to Serena Lodge for the night.

Day 10     Crater game drive or day hike in Ngorongoro highlands. Drive to Great Rift Escarpment to stay at the elegant Kirurumu Lodge.

Day 11     Free day for cultural walks, visits to villages, shopping, mountain biking, canoeing, or horseback riding. Lodging at Kirurumu Lodge.

Day 12     Morning activities, lunch and depart for Arusha. Lodging at Impala Hotel. Farewell banquet and post-safari party.

Day 13     Free day in Arusha. Return flight home.
